Vailly Gendarmerie on Sauldre.
Landes: « For the barracks of the Vailly gendarmerie brigade, the administration has strengthened of the lady Regnault widow Torchon remaining in Aubigny a house of which she owns in Vailly. This house is composed of three building bodies, two for the ahbitation of the gendarmes and the third for the covering of their horses and forage. No room is meant to serve as a prison.
At the beginning of 1820, however, he was deplored the escape of a deserter who had been placed in a simple, locked-in cabinet, hence the need for « research of an ad hoc local ».
On 6 January 1821 Galland, an entrepreneur, undertook to make the works relating to the construction of a prison in a large dependent on the buildings occupied by the gendarmerie. The localis a 2.60 m cube, flanked by a 34 cm thick door with a 16 cm long lock by 10 cm wide.
On 20 October 1860, the municipal council voted to borrow a gendarmerie barracks. This loan was authorized on 18 June 1862 by Napoleon III, a decision taken in his palace of Fontainebleau. Prior to that, there was a need to acquire the Petit Champ Pion on the top of the square, parcel number 387, section A, belonging to Mr Robin at Le Noyer. The project is due to Mr. Rey's architect in Bourges. Subsequently several expansions and improvements will take place.
In its meeting of 26 November 1969, on the basis of a favourable reply from the Commune, the Copnseil Génzral decided to take over the case of Vailly from 1 January 1970. The assignment is in fact for the symbolic franc. But the department undertakes, in the event of the decommissioning of the building, to hand it over to the municipality under the same conditions. By deliberation of 12 January 1971, the departmental assembly decided on the reconstruction of the Vailly barracks. It was carried out in 1975 and has 6 housing units. »
