LAVANDIERES – LAVOIRS DE VALLY ON SAULDER
The Lavoir du Valroy (or Valleroy):
Located on the Grande Sauldre, near the castle area. He was particularly and benefited from the softness of the River waters.
The Great Bridge wash:
It was also on the Great Sauldre, at the crossing
Principal of the village. Unlike that of the Meunière (to be confirmed)
had a wash at the Meunière?) which was a little more « withdrawn » and calm,
Washing of the Grand Bridge was at the heart of the activity, where the passage was the most
frequent.
Ambience : Unlike the wash of the Grand Pont which was louder because of the passage, that of the Meunière had a more intimate, almost bucolic atmosphere.
A place of social life. Beyond the technical aspect, it was a « local newspaper » alive.
The lavenders spent hours there on their knees in their « Keeper » (a wooden box with straw), and that's where all the news of the village was exchanged.
It was often said that washing was the « Women ' s Parliament ».
